Biking is a popular and fun hobby that is common throughout the world. It's popularity is hardly surprising as biking has many benefits. It improves fitness, helps to clear the mind, and enables you to see more of the world. It can also save you money on transport, is much faster than walking, and is much better for the environment than driving a car! Biking is an ideal pastime for all ages and abilities. It is one exercise that is suitable for those who are overweight as you can take it at your own pace and can cycle with family and friends to make it more of a social activity.
It is important to properly maintain your bike. If you need to change a tyre, first of all, don't worry. This process isn't too difficult once you get the hang of it, and is certainly much easier than changing a car tyre. If you need to remove the rear wheel you should first put the chain to the bottom sprocket. Open the brake pad up and then remove the wheel from your bike with the quick release skewer or a wrench depending on your bike. Get your tyre levers and use them to pry your tyre from the rim, start this as far away from the valve as possible. Then, grab the tube of your bike and remove, followed by taking the tyre off the bike. You should then run your hands through the tyre feeling for any punctures or sharp objects. You should then inflate the new tube inserting it on the valve. It is important at this point to ensure you don`t get any twists in the tube. Then replace the tyre rim by hand, or alternatively, using tyre levers. Put the tyre back on the bike making sure it is centred properly and close the quick release levers. Then you have finished!
You should also follow these maintenance tips to ensure your bike is in tip top condition. You should check the inflation of your tyres every time you ride your bike. Both under inflated and overinflated tyres can damage your bike. If there has been a downpour whilst you are on your bike, ensure it is cleaned and dried afterward to avoid rust. Add a little bit of oil or grease too.
Maintenance techniques for mens bikes are generally the same for womens bikes.
